I have a 2 year old in diapers still, no where near ready to potty train! lol.

I would get one of the little toilet seats that fits on a regular toilet. That way he will get use to using the big potty. Just get one for each bathroom and keep it next to the toilet. They are alot less messy too. You just flush as opposed to having to clean out a little potty chair.

I'd use a character one that sits on the floor. It's smaller and more friendly, some children develop a fear for the larger toilet because it is almost as big as them.

Since he is only 1 and just starting for now keep him in diapers and set him on the toilet 15 - 20 minutes after meals and entertain him while on their (read books, play with toys) and if he goes praise him, if not don't scold him but try again some other time.

If he is any younger then 18 months you don't want to try underwear yet because you realize they cannot hold in their bowels until 18 - 24 months. So if you try potty training for a little while to no avail, stop, and try again in a couple of weeks.

1 is too young. The trick I did was place the child backwards on the toilet. So they are facing the wall. The seat is narrower in the front.

yuck -invest in a step stool that will reach the toilet & sink instead. this is a more sanitary option. follow his cues for toileting readiness. it may be 4-5 more years before his bladder & bowels have fully matured, so remain patient.
