should i buy two potty chairs if i live in a two story house?
Hello mommies :) I thought I would start potty training my 18 month old and was wondering if I should buy two potty chairs, since we live in a two story house? I thought about keeping one upstairs and one downstairs but I don't know if its better to just stick with one and put it in one centralized spot for simplicity. She seems to understand what the bathroom/toilet is for but I don't want to confuse her by getting two... Any thoughts?

18 months is a bit young to start potty training! Just buy toilt seats that have the potty chair part built right in! They are like $30 bucks at walmart, lowes and home depot! They are really GREAT and much easier than a potty chair!
It is a good idea to have whatever she is used to in close proximity at all times (proximal to her), so either you're going to be toting them around or you have more then one. Stick with something simple and one piece (less to clean out that way, they get messy really fast), Baby Bjorn for example makes a simple one piece potty.
I would buy two. When an 18 month old needs to go, she won't hold it for long! To maximize her success of using the potty and less mess for you, get two.
haha GET 2!

im no mommy....but i babysit A LOT and when i babysit kids learning to potty train it make a whole lot of difference when there are 2 places you can go to let her .."go"

it makes a difference and i bet you will have a lot less accidents, and you need to get her used to the bathroom. all of them.
Just get the one and leave downstairs. That way, while the both of you are down there she has access to the potty instead of keep going up and down the steps. At night, u can have her use the regluar toilet.
I haven't found the potty chairs to be very successful. I've found the seats that go over the top of the regular toilet--paired with a step stool work better. Kids don't make the connection to what they're doing in their potty chair to what mom and dad do, so the novelty wears off, not to mention it's not very hygenic in the little potties. The potty seats that go over the top of the regular toilet make the transition MUCH easier and they don't develop that fear of the toilet. Get two seats, or three, or five (one for each bathroom) and leave them in there.

Just get 2 that look the same and keep them in the bathrooms. She won't get confused.

At 18mo it may not work anyway. You can start by putting her on a potty before bath. If she likes it and does something, you can try to do it at regular times in the morning, throughout the day. I used to keep toys, books by the potty and my DD loved to sit on the potty.
