usually at 1 year they can sit alone but i wouldn't suggest getting a table and chair set just yet. my girls started siting at a small table at about 18-20 months. and i still jumped and ran to them every time they would lean to far because i feared they were going to fall out, but they actually y do really well with the table and chairs now.
sure your son could use the table and chair set.........and may even eat better because he can keep comming back to get bites of food.........you know how hard it is to get a 1 year old to sit at the big table..........we usually eat as a family til my son gets restless then move his plate to his toddler table.
I agree, I think it would be fine. The things I waited for before I got one for my son, was just waiting until he could walk and climb on things. I got one for my son when he was 14 months, he started walking when he was 11 months and climbed on everything after that.
Sure, it might take a few days to get used to it before he can pull the chair out and sit on it with out falling off, but then again, my son is now two and every once in a while he will fall off. I don't worry though because it's very low to the ground and he always seems to bounce back fine.
He does love to be able to help himself when he eats though and be able to get up and down when he's hungry.
Good luck and have fun with your son.
My daughter has been out of the high chair since about a year. When we eat she has a little moon chair (small round chair) that we put at the coffie table and there she stays. Our other child sits at the other end and we sit on the couch. Yes a litlle unconventional but we always eat together.
